The Accord Party (AP) has asked the federal government to prioritise the well-being of Nigerians in 2025.

In a statement on Wednesday, Maxwell Mgbudem, the party’s national chairman, highlighted the economic challenges faced by citizens, attributing them to the removal of fuel subsidy and the floating of the naira.

He advised the federal government to prioritise economic development, women and youth empowerment, food sufficiency, reliable power supply, and political stability.

He noted the need for collective action and a departure from “partisan and parochial interests” to foster sustainable development.

“As we reflect on the events of 2024, it is essential we rededicate ourselves and resolve to do things that will uphold our emerging democracy. It calls for prayers, peace, unity, tolerance and patriotism,” Mgbudem said.

“This will be achieved if we set aside partisan and primordial interests, be in one accord and foster sustainable development that will improve the well-being of citizens. A robust democracy depends on the equal and active participation of the populace.”

Mgbudem also called for intensified efforts to address national security concerns, including terrorism, insurgency, banditry, militancy, and kidnapping.

He said security agencies must be adequately equipped and motivated to restore public safety.

“We note with pride the progress made so far and urge our gallant soldiers on the front lines to push for total victory. Our thoughts and prayers are with them in restoring public safety and order,” he said.

“As a mass movement, Accord is being repositioned as a major stakeholder in the democratic process. The masses want a platform they can call their own which our great party represents.”

Mgbudem called for unity among Nigerians to achieve peace and stability in 2025.
