ACI Africa awards Abuja, P’Harcourt int’l airports for dedication to emergency management

Festus Keyamo, minister of aviation and aerospace development, says the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, was awarded by the Airport Council International (ACI) Africa for its exceptional dedication to airport emergency management and resilience.

In a statement on Friday, signed by Tunde Moshood, special adviser on media and communications to the minister of aviation, Keyamo said similar award was given to Port Harcourt International Airport, Rivers state.

The minister said both airports were honoured with plaques during the gala night at the 33rd annual general assembly (AGM) of ACI Africa in Johannesburg, South Africa.

According to Keyamo, the awards were presented by Ali Tounsi, ACI Africa secretary-general, and Emmanuel Chaves, president, ACI Africa.

“These prestigious awards are a testament to the unwavering commitment and hard work of everyone involved in ensuring excellence in airport emergency management and resilience,” Keyamo said.

“Nigeria’s aviation sector can take pride in this achievement, which underscores the dedication to providing secure and efficient travel experiences.”

In 2021, the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport was previously named the best airport by size in Africa by the ACI.
