Pelumi Olajengbesi, an Abuja-based human rights lawyer, has commended the appeal court judgement that reinstated Ademola Adeleke as governor of Osun state.
The court of appeal, on Friday, set aside the tribunal verdict that nullified the election of Adeleke as governor of Osun.
The court ruled that Adeleke is the duly elected governor of the state.
In a statement, Olajengbesi, the lead counsel of Law Corridor, an Abuja-based law firm, said the judgement will enable the governor to concentrate on delivering good governance to his people.

He commended the three-man jury led by Mohammed Shuaibu of the court of appeal in Abuja for “standing for justice and fairness and for upholding the wishes and desire of the people”.
The lawyer also asked Gboyega Oyetola, the former governor of the state, to stop distracting Adeleke with litigations over the 2022 governorship election in the state.
“Oyetola should bow to the interest of the people of Osun state with the verdict of the court of appeal in Abuja on Friday,” Olajengbesi said.

“The idea that the courts should dictate the winner of an electoral process is anti-democratic. The people decided their governor in Adeleke when they, on July 16, 2022, voted massively for Adeleke who won overwhelmingly in 17 of the 30 local government areas in the state.
“The appeal court justices have done well to throw out the January 27 judgement of the Osun state governorship tribunal.
“In fact, the court of appeal also issued a fine of N500,000 in favour of Adeleke to show the gravity of the miscarriage of justice the tribunal did on January 27.
“Oyetola should allow the people’s governor to concentrate on delivering dividends of governance to the good people of Osun state.”
