Adamawa distributes cash, relief items to victims of insurgency

The Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) says it has presented the sum of N1.6 million and relief items to victims of terrorist attacks.

The relief items were distributed to victims of insurgency in Dabna community, Hong LGA of the state.

In the past weeks, Dabna has been reportedly attacked by terrorists who killed residents and destroyed several means of livelihood.

Speaking while presenting the items on Wednesday, Suleiman Muhammad, SEMA executive secretary, said the donation was approved by Ahmadu Fintiri, the governor of Adamawa, after an assessment of the incident.

Muhammad said the donation would help to reduce the impact of the loss recorded during the incident.

“Gov. Fintiri is sympathising with you and condoles those who lost their relatives during the incident,” NAN quoted Muhammad as saying.

“Take it as an act of God and be patient to continue with your normal activities.”

He assured that the government was adopting measures to stop further occurrences of such incidents.

The executive secretary added that the cash donation was for persons who lost their cars, motorcycles, and properties including those who lost their relatives.

On his part, Simon Yakubu, district head of Dabna, expressed appreciation for the gesture, adding that the community has accepted the incident in good fate.

“It has already happened and there is nothing we can do than to pray for those who lost their lives,” he added.

“We thank Gov. Fintiri for the gesture, we are proud of him as a community and pray for him to succeed in life.”
