Adamawa poll: APC ‘optimistic’ of beating Ribadu

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that the defection of former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Nuhu Ribadu, from the party to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will not affect it or its chances of winning the Adamawa state gubernatorial election slated for October 11.

Speaking with the TheCable on Wednesday, the national publicity secretary of the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed described the party as a “strong national brand” that the exit of one person could not mar.

“The APC is a very strong brand, not just in Adamawa, but all over the country,” he said.

“The departure of Nuhu Ribadu will not affect the party or its chances in the forthcoming governorship election in Adamawa.

“Four aspirants in our party have picked up nomination forms. After the primaries, you will know our candidate for the election. That’s Ribadu’s challenger, if he emerges as the PDP candidate.

“We are very optimistic about the election. We will take our chances and we will see how it goes.”

Ribadu defected from the APC to the PDP on Saturday. On Monday, he picked up a nomination form to participate in the primary election of the PDP.
