Adamu: Why APC is yet to zone n’assembly leadership positions

Abdullahi Adamu Abdullahi Adamu

Abdullahi Adamu, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says his party is yet to hold meetings to zone the national assembly leadership positions because Bola Tinubu, president-elect, was away.

Tinubu spent about a month abroad and returned to the country last week.

In March, Adamu said the party in collaboration with the president-elect was working on a sharing formula for the positions. More than a month later, the party is yet to reveal how the positions will be zoned.

Speaking with reporters in Abuja on Wednesday after a meeting of the national working committee (NWC) of the APC, the chairman said the party intends to carry everyone along in its decisions.

“When we do the zoning meeting, we don’t just go alone as a party, zoning is to take along the person who has the mandate of this country, the president-elect, Senator Bola Tinibu,” he said.

“We want to take him along, he travelled out of the country after the election and he came back only last week and we have to carry him along.”

Also speaking with reporters, Felix Morka, spokesperson of the APC, said the party is not in a hurry on the zoning of the national assembly leadership positions.

“We looked at some internal and domestic housekeeping matters with a colleague that you know who has expressed his concerns about something he believes the party should be doing,” Morka said.

“We deliberated completely about it, and as we speak, a committee that was set up to complete that conversation is in progress. It is important that the consultation is done, and done properly, that is what is going on right now.”
