Ademola Adeleke, Osun state governor, has declared three days of mourning in honour of Taoreed Lagbaja, the late chief of army staff (COAS).
Oluomo Alimi, the state’s commissioner for information and public enlightenment, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
The mourning period, Alimi said, will last from November 7 to 9.
He added that the governor also directed that flags be flown at half-mast across the state during the mourning period.

Alimi said condolence registers have been opened at the government house and the governor’s office for state residents.
He described the death of the COAS as “devastating and a colossal loss to humanity and the nation,” adding that the late army chief cannot be forgotten.
“The government is deeply saddened by this irreparable loss of one of Osun state’s most distinguished sons,” the statement reads.
