Senate invites Adio for briefing on NEITI report

‎The senate has invited Waziri Adio, executive secretary of the Nigeria Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (NEITI), for a briefing on ‎the 2013 audit report carried out by the organisation.
Adio had presented a copy of the report to Senate President Bukola Saraki On Tuesday, and Saraki  promised to initiate a debate on it, vowing that NEITI’s findings would not be swept “under the rug”.
In a motion moved by Tijjani Kaura, a senator from Zamfara north, ‎on Thursday, the senate resolved to invite the NEITI boss to shed more light on the report.
The motion was seconded by Ike Ekweremadu, deputy senate president.
In the report, the transparency body alleged that the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) did not remit $12.9bn to the federation account between 2005 and 2013.
