The Association of Fertility and Reproductive Health (AFRH), an umbrella body for all practitioners of reproductive health in Nigeria, is set to hold the eight edition of its annual international conference.
The conference, themed ‘New Frontiers in Reproductive Technology’, is scheduled for Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, between September 26 and September 28.
Speaking during a press briefing on Thursday, Faye Iketubosin, AFRH president, said there is an increasing rate of infertility, especially in the male gender, in the country.

The 2018 conference, according to the group will cut across fields like obstetricians, gynaecologists, surgeons and ultra-sonographers.

Ajayi said the Nigerian cultural background of social isolation for infertile couples has made ART practice in the country relevant with an estimated 25 percent suffering from fertility related issues.
He added that, however, evidence shows that a significant proportion of infertility is amendable through ART intervention.
The group will also hold a workshop on ‘Basic Course on Ultrasound in Obsetrics and Gynecology’ between February 16 and 17 in Lagos.
It will also organise another training workshop on ‘The Management of Infertility and Assisted Conception’ from May 17 to 19 in Lagos.
