After 6 months, Lawan breaks silence at senate

‎Ahmad Lawan, a senator from Yobe state, who had challenged Bukola Saraki for the office of senate president, on Wednesday, broke his silence at the upper legislative chamber.

‎Lawan, the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) choice for senate president, had remained taciturn at the senate since Saraki edged him out of the race on June 9.

But on Wednesday, he made his contribution on the debate on the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), addressing Saraki has “Mr president”.

“I want to congratulate President Muhammadu Buhari for giving Nigerians a budget proposal where 30 percent is going directly to the people and 70 percent to the privileged,” he said.

‎”This a new dawn for Nigeria. It is dawn for social change. This 2016 budget is one of expansion and emancipation of the ordinary people.

“Today, our children in schools will have a meal a day. That was never possible in the last 16 years. The unemployed will have N5, 000‎ every month.

“Mr President, I want to implore Nigerians to support this administration so that they can get all the goodies.”
