Senators and members of the house of representatives have adjourned sitting over the death of Ossy Prestige, a lawmaker in the lower legislative chamber.
Prestige, who represented Aba north/south federal constituency, died of an unknown illness on Monday.
Before his death, Prestige, a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), served on the house of representatives ad hoc committee on eastern ports.
Before the green chamber adjourned sitting, Femi Gbajabiamila, the speaker, read a letter from President Muhammadu Buhari seeking the confirmation of the new service chiefs, which he said will be attended to on Wednesday.

“It is unfortunate and sad, with a very heavy heart; I want to announce the death of our colleague Ossy Prestige,” he said.
Both chambers of the national assembly will resume plenary sessions on Wednesday.
The federal lawmakers had gone on a six-week recess in December after passing the N13.588 trillion budget for 2021 fiscal year.

The national assembly fixed January 26 for resumption but later postponed it to February 9 to enable members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to participate in the registration and revalidation exercise of the party.
