Jimi Agbaje, governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos state, wants people of the state to “confront” Rilwan Akiolu, the Oba of Lagos, by voting for PDP despite his death threat to Ndigbo in Lagos.
Agbaje told his supporters across every ethnic group to hold on to the words of Winston Churchill, the wartime prime minister of the United Kingdom (UK), who admonished the people to “never, never, never give up”.
“I am aware of the intimidation that a lot of you might be facing as we head into the final stretch of this election campaign,” he said.
“I get it. I understand what you are going through because I also had to face it in the course of this campaign.

“If this serves as any consolation, one thing I’ve learnt in life, however, is that the people who threaten you, knowingly or unknowingly, further validate your importance and underscore advantage.”
On Sunday, Akiolu threatened with death, the Igbo and others who go against the wishes of the crown by voting the PDP candidate in Saturday’s gubernatorial election.
“On Saturday, if anyone of you, I swear in the name of God, goes against my wish that Ambode will be the next governor of Lagos state, the person is going to die inside this water,” he said.

“I’m not ready to beg you. Nobody knew how I picked Ambode. Jimi is my blood relation and I told him that he cannot be governor in Lagos for now.”
Agbaje, a 58-year-old pharmacist, however encouraged Ndigbo not to respond to the intimidation in a violent manner, but with the power of their votes.

“I would like to take this time to encourage you all not to respond to intimidation with violence but rather confront it with the collective power of your votes. Change is coming to Lagos.”

I wish u luck, but I think you are a very divisive politician who is playing on the fault lines among ethnic groups in Lagos to win the governorship. I think this is desperation taken too far.
