Philip Agbese, deputy spokesperson of the House of Representatives, says President Bola Tunubu’s administration has introduced notable reforms in the country’s communication sector.

Agbese, who spoke with select journalists during an interactive session, highlighted that the communication sector in the country has been rejigged for operational efficiency with the reforms introduced by the Nigerian Communications Commission.

“The Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, Aminu Maida, hit the ground running with plans and programmes geared towards maximizing the opportunities in the communications sector for sustainable growth and development.”

“The missing link in the development circle in Nigeria is leadership. Purposeful leaders can create a lasting legacy. They can make a difference that will be felt for generations. I am glad that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu displayed this attribute when choosing persons occupying positions of authority in the country.”

He identified the NCC boss as one who brings professionalism, passion, and dedication to the conduct of government business; hence, notable gains have been recorded in the sector recently.

“Aminu Maida has displayed leadership. Under him, the communication sector in Nigeria has experienced a leap in productivity. This indicates his quality of thought and commitment to bringing his expertise to bear on the task of re-positioning the communication sector in Nigeria,” he said.

Agbese commended Tinubu for painstakingly identifying passionate Nigerians in the mould of Maida in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda to give Nigerians hope and a new sense of direction.

“The example in the communication sector indeed gives hope to the country. It has been established beyond reasonable doubt that Maida is leading the Renewed Hope Agenda of the present administration. The laudable reforms and policy direction at the NCC are such that promote innovation and productivity,” he said.

“These reforms are positioned to accelerate the diversification of the Nigerian economy by enhancing productivity in critical sectors. Communication is the economy’s engine for change and gateway to new resources and opportunities. It connects key economic players, promotes dialogue, and informs their policies.”

Agbese urged well-meaning Nigerians to support the reforms introduced in critical sectors of the economy by Tinubu, stating that they were necessary given the precarious state of the country’s economy.

“President Bola Tinubu is a man on a mission, and it is incumbent on well-meaning Nigerians to support his reforms in critical sectors of the economy, which are necessary given the peculiarities of the time.”
