Kefas Agbu, governor of Taraba, says his administration would ensure compulsory, free, and quality education for all.
Kefas spoke at a press conference in Jalingo on Saturday.
The governor, who declared a state of emergency on basic and post-basic education said his administration would ensure that the educational system is upgraded.
According to Agbu, the deplorable state of education had given him concerns, hence, the need for a revamping in the sector.

He added that his administration would boost the training and retraining of teachers in the state.
Agbu promised to introduce motivations to enhance the welfare of the teachers as well.
He also assured the people of the protection of lives and property, adding that security would be his topmost priority.

“We will adopt a peer review mechanism in the allocation of projects to local government areas, stressing that people should be allowed to choose their areas of priority in developmental projects,” the governor said.
“We shall consult the people of various local government areas to decide on projects that are good for them.
“They are the ones who voted for us and as such we should engage them in project locations. This would make us serve them better.”
