Ahmad Aliyu, governor of Sokoto, has dissolved non-statutory governing boards of government parastatals and agencies in the state.
In a statement on Monday, signed by Abubakar Bawa, press secretary to the governor, Aliyu noted that the dissolution did not affect statutory boards whose tenures are guaranteed by the constitution of the country or extant laws of the state government.
The governor has constituted a panel to review the appointments of traditional rulers made by the previous administration led by Aminu Tambuwal.
He also directed that the appointment of the traditional rulers be suspended until the review is concluded.

Dr Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, FCNA, on the assumption of office, has made the following pronouncements: The renaming of tertiary institutions in the state and other appointments related to their governing councils and their relocations announced recently by the outgoing administration are hereby nullified.
