The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has granted Air Algerie, Algeria’s national airline, a foreign carrier operating permit (FCOP), facilitating improved air connectivity between Nigeria and Algeria.

FCOP is a document required by foreign airlines to conduct commercial air transport to, from, or within a specific country.

In a post on X on Tuesday, the NCAA announced that the permit was presented during a meeting between Chris Najomo, director-general (DG) of the agency, and Hocine Mezoued, the ambassador of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria.

According to the authority, the discussion focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the aviation sector.

The authority added that the inaugural flight on the route, operated by Air Algerie, is scheduled to commence on April 6, marking a new era of strengthened ties and improved air travel between Nigeria and Algeria.
