Air Peace has increased its excess baggage fee to N1,000 per kilogram (kg) for domestic flights effective September 1, 2022.
The airline announced the new fee in its ‘baggage policy’ published on its website.
Air Peace also said baggage allowance is now 15kg and 30kg for both economy and business classes, respectively.
“Effective from 1st September 2022, the baggage allowance will be 15kg in economy class, [and] 30kg in business class,” the statement reads.

“Baggage in excess of the specified weight will attract a fee of N1,000 per kilogram to be paid at the airport.”
Further checks by TheCable show that the new baggage weight was a reduction from its previous 20kg in economy class and 40kg in business.
By implication, the excess baggage charge is an increase of 100 percent from the N500 per kg previously charged on excess baggage weight.

The management of the company did not immediately respond to requests for comments.
The development may be linked to the crisis in the aviation sector as operators’ costs have been gravely impacted by the high price and scarcity of jet A1 fuel and foreign exchange (FX).
