The senate on Thursday received two additional petitions against the ministerial nomination of Aisha Abubakar from Sokoto state.
Ibrahim Gobir, senator representing Sokoto east, who had brought the initial petition against the nominee, laid the additional petitions before the senate.
According to Gobir, the grouse of the “People of Sokoto” with Abubakar is that she is “incompetent”.
Also, the Sokoto chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had rejected Abubakar’s nomination as minister on the grounds that she was not a member of the party.

But on Tuesday, President Muhammadu Buhari and Aminu Tambuwal, governor of Sokoto state met to iron out issues regarding the nominee.
Although, the outcome of the meeting was not disclosed, Imam Imam, spokesman of Tambuwal simply said: “At the moment, all issues are being resolved.”
Abubakar had appeared before the senate committee on ethics, privileges and public petitions where she affirmed her competence to hold a ministerial position.
