Aisha Yesufu, activist and founder of Citizens Hub, has come under fire for saying that Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), must state how he would tackle police brutality.
Yesufu, who is a supporter of Obi, had quoted a tweet of Rinu Oduala, another activist, who asked what the LP’s candidate plan is to tackle the menace.
In October 2020, youths across the country protested against police brutality for about two weeks under the #EndSARS movement.
Following the protests, the special anti-robbery squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) had been disbanded.

States had also been asked to set up judicial panels of inquiry to probe cases of police brutality across the country.
In the tweet on Saturday, Yesufu had said the LP presidential candidate “must” provide his solutions to police brutality.
“Peter Obi MUST provide the answer on how he is going to tackle police brutality. No ifs or buts about it!,” Yesufu tweeted.

But her tweet has been greeted with criticism.

Aisha Yesufu there are so many things Peter Obi needs to address, but Police brutality isn't one of 'em cos he has already done that. U can get the answers by surfing the net. For someone who claims to be a loyalist, u are doing the work of the oppositi¤n by caus!ng confusi¤n.

If a partner keep asking the other do you love me, it's bad optics. It creates doubt. If you support a candidate, you can still ask him questions but there's a way you ask that question. Waking up and tweeting that question is wrong. No one is perfect, not Rinu, not Obi.

Which one is ‘MUST’? As a member of the Presidential Campaign Council, you should be addressing Rinu’s question pending when Peter Obi answers her again, even though he has spoken on the issue of police brutality repeatedly. You are now a team member, not a fan or supporter. pic.twitter.com/mAklzwpstp

Early this week it was Enenche matter, some threatening 2 not vote Obi again, today again it's aunty Aisha asking a question dt P.O has addressed overtime.
I hope y'all know u can't win a battle on two fronts. And I hope u won't cost him this presidency by ur unnecessary dragging— Adéwálé (@GreatMatriix) October 15, 2022
If you will not support him unless he attends to all your whims, support another candidate who can tell you what you want to hear.
