Yakubu Aiyegbeni has inked a short-term deal with Coventry City.
The striker’s contract with the English League One side is expected to last until the end of the ongoing season.
Aiyegbeni, who will wear jersey number 22 at Coventry City, has been out of contract since leaving Turkish team, Kayserispor.
A struggling Coventry side will need Aiyegbeni’s help to escape relegation, after earning just 21 points from 30 games.

Russell Slade, the manager of Coventry city, is optimistic that Aiyegbeni’s signing can be important for his team.
“We’re pleased to have secured the signing of Yakubu, who brings vast experience and a terrific goal record,” Slade told Coventry’s official website.
“His professional career speaks for itself, having scored consistently at the highest level of English football, and he will act as a superb role model for the younger players.

“He is astute on the ball, has clear quality and presence, and we’ll continue to work on his match fitness as we prepare for the final 16 games of this season.”
During his first adventure in England, Aiyegbeni was a feared and consistent goal poacher.
He played for Everton, Blackburn Rovers, Reading, and Middlesbrough in the English Premier League.
