Akeredolu casts his ballot, asks electorate to protect their votes

Rotimi Akeredolu, governor of Ondo, has advised the electorate to monitor the voting process in their polling units.

Speaking to journalists after casting his vote at polling unit(PU) 6, ward 5, Ijebu-Owo local government area (LGA), the governor said  it was necessary for voters to protect their votes and to avoid all forms of electoral malpractices.

He said he is sure of his reelection because of his confidence in God.

“I am confident about winning this election. I have always said that mine is about God. I know that God in his infinite mercy will give me victory, my confidence is in God,” he said.

Akeredolu expressed joy at the large voter turnout despite the heavy rainfall in some parts of the state.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) confirmed that 17 political parties are participating in the election which is taking place in 18 local government areas in the state.

The major contenders are Eyitayo Jegede of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Akeredolu of the All Progressives Congress(APC), and Agboola Ajayi of Zenith Labour Party(ZLP).
