Akinrinade, ex-VC of UNIOSUN, joins Akin Fadeyi Foundation board

Sola Akinrinade, former vice-chancellor of Osun State University, has joined the board of trustees of the Akin Fadeyi Foundation.

This was made known in a statement by Simon Kolawole, the foundation’s board chairman and publisher of TheCable online newspaper.

The Akin Fadeyi Foundation BoT comprises experts in the legal, media communication, public policy and development sectors.

The not-for-profit organisation said it is excited to have Akinrinade as one of its board members.

“Professor Akinrinade comes with a rich and diverse track record of academic excellence, towering development sector expertise and an impeccable grasp of international diplomacy,” it said.

“His addition to the Board brings the strategic perspectives required to consolidate on AFF’s milestones in the anti-corruption space, while also charting new paths in the driving of initiatives that fits into our overall agenda for a better world.”

Akinrinade is the pioneer provost of the Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria which is the research and training arm of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

According to the statement, he obtained BA and MA in history from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife) and PhD in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), University of London.

He is a professor of African diplomatic history and international relations at OAU “where he has produced several graduates and dons in over three decades”.

He was the dean of the faculty of arts, OAU (2003 – 2007), and chairman of the committee of deans (2006 – 2007).

He also served as the founding vice-chancellor of the Osun State University from 2007 to 2012.

Akinrinade joined the ICPC on October 1, 2014 as provost of the Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria.

“As the head of the academy, he is responsible for the growth and development of the institution’s academic and human resources,” it said.

“He is an experienced academic, historian, biographer, documentarist, public servant and administrator and consultant to various national and international organizations with interest and capacity in public policy, human capacity development, higher education capacity building, good governance, anti-corruption, ethics and integrity.”

Akinrinade is also a fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Letters (FNAL), the apex body for humanities scholarship in Nigeria, and of several other professional bodies including the Historical Society of Nigeria (FHSN), the Society for Peace Studies and Practice (fspsp), and the Institute of Management Consultants (FIMC).
