Rilwan Akiolu, oba of Lagos, says he speaks the truth to politicians because he fears no one except God.
Akiolu spoke with journalists after a meeting between Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of the state, and the council of obas at the state house, Ikeja, on Thursday.
Obafemi Hamzat, the deputy governor, was also in attendance.
The monarch said the meeting was to discuss issues on security and socio-economic development of the state.

Akiolu had recently accused former President Olusegun Obasanjo of being the main problem of Nigeria.
The monarch debunked claims that he is a “puppet” to some big wigs in the country but said they come to him to seek his advice.
“I am a king. I fear no one except God and that is why I will always speak my mind, aside from speaking truth to power.”

Earlier during the meeting, the monarch advised Sanwo-Olu against making hasty decisions and to be wary of hypocrites who come to him as friends.
Akiolu said many of those who would throng Sanwo-Olu’s office with advice are hypocrites and mainly concerned about what would benefit them and not for the good of the public.
