The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused Godswill Akpabio, senator representing Akwa Ibom north-west, of plotting to use soldiers to manipulate the election.
The party said this in a statement issued on Sunday.
It alleged that the senator had contacted the general officer commander (GOC) 6 division, to carry out the act.
“Senator Akpabio has enlisted the help of the GOC 6 Division Nigerian Army based in Port Harcourt to Uyo as part of a last ditch effort to subvert the will of the people and force INEC officials to announce results in favour of APC in Akwa Ibom State,” the statement read.

“The plot is to use the GOC and Army personnel to intimidate INEC officials to allow Senator Akpabio and his cohorts to alter elections results in the state which has overwhelmingly gone against him and APC.
“We call on the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Chief of Army Staff, the International and Diplomatic Community to prevail on the GOC 6 Division Nigerian Army to return to his duty post in Port Harcourt and not allow himself to be used by Senator Akpabio to subvert the will of Akwa Ibom people.”
