Philip Shaibu

Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Philip Shaibu, a former deputy governor, have been named in sub-committees of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship campaign council for Edo state.

The election is billed for September 21.

In July, Shaibu formally defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). He was impeached by the Edo house of assembly in April.

While a court has nullified the impeachment, Shaibu, named as deputy chair of the youth mobilisation and security sub-committees, has not been reinstated as deputy governor.
