Musa Kimo has assumed duty as the new commissioner of police in Akwa Ibom.
He succeeded Bassey Abang, who has been redeployed from the state.
Odiko Macdon, the command’s public relations officer, made the disclosure in Uyo on Friday.
He said in a statement: “The Akwa Ibom State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris, has approved the posting of a new Commissioner of Police to Akwa Ibom State Police Command.

“He is CP Musa Kimo. The new CP takes over from CP John Bassey Abang.
“The new Police boss holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Political Science from the University of Sokoto.”
The appointment of the new police commissioner comes after the Akwa Ibom state assembly was reopened by the police on Thursday.

The police cordoned off the premises following a crisis that erupted on Monday when plenary was disrupted by suspected thugs.
Shortly after the incident, five lawmakers announced the election of Nse Ntuen, member representing Essien Udim constituency, as the new speaker.
The seats of the lawmakers, who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressive Congress (APC), had earlier been declared vacant by the assembly.
Ntuen said the decision to change the speaker of the house, Onofiok Luke, followed a lack of confidence in his ability to lead the assembly.

He described the process that led to their purported sack as illegal, saying there was a subsisting court order restraining the assembly from declaring their seats vacant.
