‘Okon’ now special adviser in Akwa Ibom

Udom Emmmanuel, governor of Akwa Ibom, has chosen Ime Bishop Umoh, Nollywood actor and comedian better known as Okon, as one of his aides.

Okon is the new special assistant to the governor on ethical and social reorientation.

Th actor confirmed the appointment in an Instagram post.

“Yes, it’s true. I have been made special assistant to the Governor on Ethical and Social Reorientation, Akwa Ibom state. Thank you Gov Udom Emmanuel. Most above all, thank you Jesus.”

Okon now joins Ini Edo, who had earlier been appointed special adviser to Akwa Ibom governor on culture and tourism.

The actor was first noticed after he featured in Uyai, a 2007 Emem Isong movie and was brought to limelight after his lead role in Okon goes to Lagos, a 2011 movie.

In an interview, Okon said he does not smoke or take alcohol.

“I am naturally high. Do I look like somebody who is normal? I am not normal,” he had said.

He met his wife at a wedding ceremony where he was the master of ceremony and she, a bridesmaid.

They have a two-year old daughter and have been married for three years.
