Akwa United’s goalkeeper Olorunleke Ojo was the hero on Sunday as the Promise Keepers emerged champions of the 2017 Aiteo Cup following a penalty shootout win over Niger Tornadoes.
The game was 0-0 at the end of 90 minutes at the Agege Stadium, in Lagos.
Akwa United started the game on a high note with forward Musa Newman narrowly missing from close range.
The Uyo-based side dominated but failed to find the back of the net throughout the first half.

The second half was less explosive with both sides understandably cautious knowing very well that a place in the CAF Confederation Cup was at stake.
After 90 minutes of action, the referee Basheer Salisu brought the game to an end with no side finding the back of the net.
Akwa United won the penalty shootout 3-2 to qualify for the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup.
