Al Ahly grab first leg advantage against Esperance in CAF CL final

Al Ahly SC sealed a first leg victory against rivals Esperance de Tunis in the CAF Champions League final on Friday.

The Egyptian Premier League champions won 3-1 at the Borg El Arab Stadium, Alexandria.

Nigeria international Junior Oluwafemi Ajayi was left out of the game due to injury.

In the 34th minute, Walid Soliman scored from the penalty spot to give the hosts the lead.

The first half of the epic North African derby ended 1-0 in favour of Al Ahly.

Amr El Sulaya doubled the lead for the Red Devils as they tried to establish a comfortable first leg advantage.

Youcef Belaili converted a spot kick to pull one back for the visitors.

The hosts extinguished the fire in Esperance when they restored their two-goal cushion as Soliman got himself a brace from the spot.

The second leg will take place on Friday, November 9.
