Super Eagles ‘new recruit’, Alex Iwobi, has signed a new long-term contract with Arsenal, according to the club’s official website.
The 19-year-old forward, who is a mainstay of the Gunners’ under-21s, was part of Arsene Wenger’s squad that travelled to Singapore for pre-season in July and scored his first senior goal for the club a fortnight later in the Emirates Cup, against Lyon.
But contrary to speculations that he would be out on loan, the graduate of the Arsenal Academy has signed a new deal.
“Everyone at Arsenal would like to congratulate Alex on his new contract and looks forward to his continued progression in the season ahead,” a statement in the club’s website read.

He finished the 2014/15 campaign with nine goals in nine matches for the under-21s and has continued his scoring form this season, netting twice in five appearances for the second string.
Iwobi, who has represented England at youth level, is currently in Belgium training with the Super Eagles of Nigeria for the friendlies against DR Congo and Cameroon.
