Alex Otti, governor of Abia, has appointed Kenneth Kalu as the secretary to the state government (SSG).
The governor also named Njum Onyemenam as accountant-general of the state.
Otti’s media office announced the development in a statement released on Tuesday night.
Otti also appointed five persons as aides. They are Caleb Ajagba (chief of staff), Ngozi Okoronkwo (special adviser on health care delivery services), Ferdinand Ekeoma (special adviser on media and publicity), Kazie Uko (chief press secretary), and Ogbonnia Okereke (head, special taskforce on emergency cleanup of Aba & Umuahia).

The appointments took immediate effect.
The appointments were among the duties performed by the governor 24 hours after his inauguration.
Otti has also ordered the immediate freezing of all accounts belonging to the state government and its agencies domiciled in every bank and financial institution.

The governor asked all banks to immediately cease honouring any cheque, document, instrument or directive of any kind not expressly approved by or emanating from him.
Otti further directed the immediate dissolution of all boards of the state government, agencies and parastatals.
The governor ordered the chief executives of government establishments in the state to hand over to those next in line to them.
