Hyacinth Alia, governor of Benue, has appointed Jacob Gbamwuan as the director-general (DG) the of bureau of homeland security in the state.
Tersoo Kula, chief press secretary to the governor, announced Gbamwuan’s appointment in a statement on Monday.
Kula said the bureau of homeland security was established during the recent security council meeting in the state, noted it is situated under the office of the governor.
He said the Gbamwuan’s appointment is with immediate effect.

Gbanwuan is a graduate of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) and Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) Zaria, Kaduna state.
He also studied at the University of Jos and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
He is a specialist in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice (MLCJ) and retired into community service before his present appointment to serve the Benue government.

Kula said the governor congratulated Gbamwuan and urged him to put the interests of the state first when discharging his responsibilities.
“It is the belief of His Excellency that Commodore Gbamwuan will use his wealth of experience, national and international connections, and security expertise to bear on his vision of tackling insecurity in the state,” Kula quoted the governor as saying.
