Alleged homicide: Police arrest suspended Anambra LGA boss over wife’s death

The Anambra police command says Mbazulike Iloka, the Nnewi north LGA transition committee chairman, is currently in its custody over circumstances surrounding the death of Chidiebere, his wife.

Tochukwu Ikenga, Anambra police spokesperson, confirmed the arrest to TheCable on Wednesday.

Chidiebere died on August 7 and her husband is said to have claimed that she slumped before she was confirmed dead.

However, there are reports that the deceased may have been a victim of domestic violence.

Owing to the incident, the Anambra state government suspended Iloka, citing allegations that his wife was killed.

“Following the sad news of the death of your wife, late Mrs Chidiebere Iloka, on 7th August 2022, there has been a massive outcry over the circumstances leading to her death, including alleged possible homicide,” the state government had said.

“While you are presumed innocent until the completion of investigations, it has become imperative that you step aside to allow unfettered investigation and justice.”
