Allen Onyema, chief executive officer of Air Peace, has asked the federal government to facilitate the removal of numerous charges imposed on players in the aviation sector.

Addressing state house correspondents after a meeting with Vice-President Kashim Shettima at the Presidential Villa on Tuesday, Onyema expressed optimism that the present administration will listen to the stakeholders’ demands.

He said since the start of the COVID-19 outbreak, the aviation sector has been a “turbulent arena”.

Onyema added that Festus Keyamo, minister of aviation and aerospace development, is doing a great job of repositioning the sector.

“Aviation all over the world has been a turbulent arena after the COVID-19 pandemic because of the supply chain issues. This is not peculiar to Nigeria, but the Nigerian government is listening to us and making sure the ease of doing business in the sector is back,” he said.

“We are here to also thank the government because they have been giving us listening ears and we want more of that to make sure all those numerous charges we face are removed, and we have every confidence that the government will do something about it.

“I have just had a session with the Vice-President and everything he said is that the government is actually promoting the ease of doing business.”
