Yusuf Alli, the technical manager, Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), says the body’s target is to win at least three medals at the forthcoming 2016 Olympics.
Alli told NAN on Tuesday in Lagos that the AFN was seriously working to ensure that the country had a good outing in Rio.
“All countries are focusing on the 2016 Olympics and for Athletics, our target is nothing less than three medals. We hope to have a good performance,” he said.
The Olympics is scheduled for Aug. 5 to Aug.21 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Alli, a gold medallist at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in New Zealand, said that the nation hoped to do better at the 2016 Africa Senior Championships.
“We hope to repeat or surpass the record of what we had in 2014. Though the focus is mainly on Olympics but we are not undermining the African Championships either,” he said.
Team Nigeria won 10 gold, six silver and a bronze at the 19th Africa Senior Championships held in Marrakesh, Morocco in 2014.
