The alumni of Ambrose Alli University (AAU) have called on Monday Okpebholo, the Edo state governor, to revitalise infrastructure in the institution.
The group has also highlighted the need to increase the staff strength at the state-owned campus.
NAN reports that Clifford Omozeghian, president of the association, spoke at the 3rd annual lecture series in Abuja.
Omozeghian said the university has been in a state of disrepair and requires urgent rehabilitation.

He urged the governor to use his influence to ensure the university received the necessary support to revamp its infrastructure and address manpower shortages.
Okpebholo, who assumed office on November 12, had promised to improve the university during his election campaign.
“That university has been downtrodden for a while and needs revamping and rehabilitation. There are structural projects that must be carried out; there is a manpower shortage that must be looked into,” he said.

“There are many things that need improvement at the university. So, we are calling on the governor to use his good offices to ensure that AAU comes back to life.”
Sunday Samuel, the acting vice-chancellor of AAU, highlighted challenges facing the university including unpaid staff salaries, infrastructure decay, and manpower shortages.
He acknowledged that government intervention remains necessary despite already ongoing efforts to revamp the institution.
