Chibuike Amaechi, governor of Rivers state, has condoled with President Goodluck Jonathan and his family over the death of Nancy Jonathan-Olei, the president’s younger sister.

Amaechi said that the prayers and thoughts of the people of Rivers were with the president’s family in their moment of grief.

He prayed that God grants them the fortitude to bear the loss.

“The pain of an untimely death is immeasurable, and we pray that God grants Mr President and the entire family of the bereaved the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” David Iyofor, Amaechi’s chief press secretary, said in a statement.

“The people and the government of Rivers understand the pain and grief of losing a loved one. We pray that the soul of the deceased rest in the bosom of the Almighty.”

The deceased aged 52, died in the early hours of Sunday at a Yenogoa hospital, after a brief illness.
