Celtic defender, Efe Ambrose, is delighted to be back in the Super Eagles of Nigeria after a short absence.
Ambrose has been a bit-part player for the national team especially during the latter stages of Stephen Keshi’s reign as coach. He was also left out of the team by Sunday Oliseh in his first two games as coach.
But he was named as a replacement for injured Kenneth Omeruo ahead of Nigeria’s friendly games against DR Congo on Thursday and Cameroon on Sunday in Belgium.
And Ambrose wants to prove he should always be a part of the Super Eagles squads in the future.
“I am happy to be back. I have always loved to play for Nigeria and the passion remains the same, just like when I made my debut,” he said.
“I want to be a mainstay in the team, but it starts with me at my club side. I need to get games at Celtic and make it impossible for the coaches to leave me out.
”I am ready to slot in anywhere the coaches want me to play. I am fit and ready to go for my country.”
Ambrose, who can play at centre-back and at right-back, has 42 caps for Nigeria since making his debut in 2011.
