Ambrose wishes for a peaceful poll in 2015

Super Eagles defender, Efe Ambrose, wants Santa Claus to grant his only wish for the New Year – a peaceful election in Nigeria.

The 2015 election – scheduled for February 14th and 28th – is one of the most anticipated in Nigeria’s history, and the buildup is already generating tension in the country, especially for fear of post-election violence.

But Ambrose wants Santa Claus to grant his wish for a peaceful pre and post-election process.

“I want to wish fans and well-wishers of the Super Eagles, Celtics a Merry Christmas, but when my daughters went to meet Santa Claus, my wish was for a peaceful election come 2015,” he told SL10.ng.

“I lost friends to the last post-election violence, people close to me lost properties and assets that run into billions of Naira so you can understand why my Christmas wish is for peaceful elections.”

Scottish Premier League leader Celtic host second from bottom Ross County on Saturday and Ambrose, who has never experienced playing competitive football during the festive period, is relishing the prospect.

“I’m used to having breaks in December while I was in Israel and last year I was away for the festive fixtures due to my involvement in the Cup of Nations, I have never witnessed it, so I’m excited,” he said.
