Amokachi gets three-game ultimatum to pull Lobi out of relegation zone

Lobi Stars have just three wins from their 11 games since Daniel Amokachi was appointed the team's technical adviser.

The Benue house of assembly has directed the management of Lobi Stars Football Club (FC) to sack the club’s technical crew if they fail to win the next three matches in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

According to NAN, the house issued the directive during a plenary session on Thursday with Terkimbi Ikyange, the state’s commissioner for sports, and the club’s management present.

The club is owned and funded by the Benue government. Daniel Amokachi, former Super Eagles player, is the team’s technical adviser, while Mika Lönnström, a Finnish tactician, is the head coach.

Lobi are currently at the bottom of the NPFL table with just three wins from their 11 games.

During the plenary session, Douglas Akya, a lawmaker, accused the team’s management of working with cross purposes and not for the club’s good.

On his part, Philip Nongo, the club’s board chairman, blamed the team’s poor form on playing home matches at a neutral ground and wrong recruitment of players.

“We wrote the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) to change their home to Bauchi, but it was not approved because Bauchi did not have a good pitch,” he said.

“Another reason why the team is not living up to expectations is the wrong recruitment of players. This contributed a lot to the abysmal performance of the club.

“We will inject new players that will give the club results in January.”

In his ruling, Hyacinth Dajo, the Benue assembly speaker, said the technical team must improve its performance within three matches or be fired.
