Amokachi: We have to keep improving

Super Eagles assistant coach, Daniel Amokachi, has said the team that lost 1-0 to the Elephants of Cote D’ Ivoire in an international friendly in Abu Dhabi must keep improving.

The Eagles B team held their own against Africa Cup of Nations-bound and 1992 champions Ivory Coast and almost snatched a draw until they were undone by an 84th minute Salomon Kalou goal.

Amokachi, who took charge of the team in the absence of Stephen Keshi, knows the team can only improve in their subsequent games.

“The players gave their best but like I have been saying, we must also remember that these are players that have been off season for over two months and they are just only trying to get some fitness,” he said.

“We have to keep improving after this game and focus on the next. The good thing is that we have some days before the next game and we must use those days to make sure we get better.

“These are young players and they are willing to learn and that is the good thing, so we must work with them to help them get better. If they get better, it is not to my glory but to the glory of Nigeria.”

Nigeria will play the Falcons of Sudan on January 17, 2015 in their last game in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
