Amokachi: Keshi is the boss

Super Eagles assistant coach, Daniel Amokachi, insists that Stephen Keshi is still in charge of the team despite not being in the dugout with the other coaches in recent games.

Keshi, who the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed to have signed a new contract to continue as the senior national team’s coach, was absent when Nigeria took on Uganda and South Africa.

But Amokachi reveals that the Big Boss still calls the shot.

“He [Keshi] is the boss; he is in charge of the team. For now by His grace I am the one who is handling these two games [against Uganda and South Africa],” he said.

“As the chief you definitely have to call, this is what is going and this is what it is. How did you see the game? And we break it down.

“He chips in one, two, three which is normal. You cannot play football alone, it is not an island.”

When asked about the actual situation of Keshi’s contract talk with the NFF, Amokachi’s answer was laconic.

“I’m an interim coach and that question should go to the administrators,” he said.
