Amstel Malta has launched the 2014 edition of its talent hunt project targeted at providing a platform for undergraduates across the country to explore their creativity.
Entitled The Rush, the programme debuted in 2011 across Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Benin and Lagos, while the second edition held in Abuja, Lagos and Enugu in 2012. The third edition of the event has been scheduled for Lagos and Ibadan.
Addressing the media during the launch at the Nigerian Breweries house, Iganmu Lagos, Mr. Kufre Ekanem, corporate affairs adviser, Nigerian Breweries, talked about the objective of Amstel Malta in using the project as a platform to encourage youths in various tertiary institutions to be the best that they can be.
“We are aiming that this would be a unique platform to discover young and budding talents in music, movies, comedy and other sectors in Nigerian tertiary institutions,” he said.

“Amstel Malta Showtime 2014 aims to be distinctive, exciting, exploring, and tends to be the best. We are encouraging all talents to be the best that they can be at all times. Amstel Malta is putting everything in place to make sure that these unique talents have the opportunity to achieve their dreams alongside renowned personalities in Nigeria.”
He explained that there would be five different talents from each of the regions and that the overall winners will have different prices in addition to the opportunity to feature in a concert drama that can launch them into the career of their choice.
Genevive Nnaji, brand ambassador of Amstel Malta and the only female judge of The Rush 2014, expressed delight at being a part of the project and implored youths to take advantage of it.

“Amstel Malta is set to make this third edition of Showtime a very memorable experience and I really can’t wait to see how it unfolds,” she said.
“I’m very positive that there are so many undiscovered talents out there. I urge everyone to take hold of this opportunity and be part of this journey to success and can potentially launch you into that career of your choice.”
Ace comedian, Gordons; popular musician, Sound Sultan; Art producer, Ice Nweke; and indigenous rapper, Phyno are among the judges for the audition of the event, scheduled to hold at the Grand Royale Hall, Enugu on August 29 and the sports hall of the University of Lagos on September 18.
