Amuneke expects ‘interesting’ Mali challenge

Golden Eaglets of Nigeria’s coach, Emmanuel Amuneke, is expecting “an interesting challenge” against Mali in the FIFA U-17 World Cup final on Sunday.

The Eaglets set up an all-African final after the 4-2 victory over Mexico in the semi-final which booked them a ticket to face Mali in Sunday’s showpiece.

Mali reached their first-ever U-17 World Cup final courtesy of a come-from-behind 3-1 victory against Belgium.

Amuneke, who also spoke about the triumph over Mexico, expects a tough game from the champions of Africa.

“It was a difficult match in which both teams did their best,” he said.

“We give credit to Mexico because of their performance and its level of play. We are happy to be in the final and have the chance to defend the world title. Mali is a good team, Africa’s champion. This is going to be an interesting challenge.”

The defending world champions will now be aiming to win a fifth title at the Estadio Saualito Vina Del Mar in Chile on Sunday.
