‘An uncommon leader’ — Ondo APC commends Tinubu for replacing NDDC board nominees

The Ondo chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended President Bola Tinubu for replacing the state representative on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) board.

The Ondo APC had rejected the appointment of Victor Akinjo on the NDDC board.

The party had said the appointment of Akinjo, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member, could “demoralise” members who “greatly contributed to the success of the ruling party during the elections”.

Subsequently, the president approved the replacement of Akinjo with Otito Atikase.

In a statement on Monday by Alex Kalejaye, its publicity secretary, Ade Adetimehin, the state APC chairman, described Tinubu as “an uncommon leader” who is sensitive to people’s yearnings and core interests.

He said the decision to drop the previous nominee for “a loyal and vibrant APC stalwart” is heartwarming and commendable.

The party charged Atikase to always regard the interest of Ondo in his activities on the board.

“You are expected to further contribute to the development of APC, particularly, in Ondo State,” Adetimehin said.

Adetimehin wished Atikase and the NDDC governing board a productive tenure.

The president also replaced Asu Okang, another PDP member and Cross River nominee whose appointment also sparked protests, with Orok Duke.
