Ancelotti to replace Sarri as Napoli coach

Carlo Ancelotti has been confirmed as the next Napoli manager on a three-year deal.

The Italian, who last worked at Bayern Munich before being sacked late last year, will take over from the fiery Mauricio Sarri who guided the Naples-based club to consecutive second place finish in Serie A, pushing Juventus to the penultimate fixture of the just concluded season before surrendering the league challenge.

The 58-year old Ancelotti, who’s last Italian job was at AC Milan in 2009, already spoke on Napoli’s social media page, declaring he is “really happy and honored to be the coach of a team of such a unique city with incredible fans.”

He will, however, be formally presented and start his task of wrestling the Serie A from the dominant hands of Juventus next month, telling journalists last night “we’ll see each other July 9.”

The cold-faced Ancelotti, who was sacked by Bayern Munich in September, has won league titles in Italy, England, France and Germany, winning the Serie A title with AC Milan in the 2002/03 season.
