The gallery was filled with supporters ‎who came to show solidarity.

Last month when he picked up his certificate of return at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), ‎Uchendu had promised to support Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers, “if he will accept it.”

“Although the governor is always on the path of war, I will extend a hand of fellowship to him because I could be in a position to guide him. With my age I might be in a better position to guide him it cannot be all war, war,” he had said.

“Series of administrations have come and they have made their individual contributions but the worst from my own evaluation is that of the present governor who lacks the capacity to come up with the vision that will impact meaningfully in the lives of the people in the state.”
