Another Briton undergoes Ebola test in London

A second British citizen was flown back to England on Monday, after a probable contract of the Ebola virus disease (EVD).

The British military healthcare worker arrived his home country from Sierra Leone, where he was said to have been likely exposed to the deadly viral disease.

Though the unnamed Briton has not shown any symptoms of the disease, Public Health England said the worker got exposed to the virus from a needle injury while treating a patient with the disease.

Earlier,on Saturday, a healthcare worker was flown to England after a similar injury. Both of them are being tested at the Royal Free hospital in London.

“Although we have had two similar incidents within a short space of time both appear to be unrelated,” Mark Francois, British minister for the armed forces,  said in a statement.

“Our personnel receive the highest standard of training and briefing prior to deployment, including on the use of the specialized Personal Protective Equipment.”

Two other Britons who contracted the disease were successfully treated at the Royal Free hospital and have been discharged.

The current epidemic of the Ebola virus broke out in Guinea in March 2014, spreading across some West African countries with a few diagnoses in other parts of the World.

The disease has recorded close to 9,000 from over 22,000 cases since it broke out in 2014.
