Umukoro Josiah, Aghaza 1of Olomoro in Isoko south local government area of Delta state, was kidnapped on Friday morning.
Investigations revealed that the monarch’s abductors stormed his palace at Ekiagbodo around 7:30am and took away their victim.
Celestina Kalu, police public relations officer (PPRO) in the state, confirmed the abduction of the monarch in text messages sent to reporters in Warri.
“The Olomoro King, Aghaza 1 was kidnapped in his office in Olomoro community,” the message read.

“The kidnappers are heading to unknown destination with a Dark Green Rav 4 Jeep.”
Kalu said the police were on the trail of the abductors, assuring the people they would soon catch up with them.
Josiah ascended the ancestral stool of the Olomoro in January 2014 and he is said to be the eleventh monarch in the kingdom.

The abduction comes about a week after the decomposed body of another monarch in the area, Akaeze Ofulue 111 of Ubulu-Uku (pictured dressed in red) was found in a bush in the Umunede part of the state.
Ofulue was also allegedly abducted by gunmen.
