Less than 24 hours after 129 people were killed across different locations in Paris, France has recorded another tragic incident.

A high-speed train derailed in Strasbourg, a city in the north-eastern part of the country, killing 10 people and leaving 32 injured.

Officials blamed the incident on “excessive speed”.

The train said to be carrying 49 people – all employees of a railway company – derailed, caught fire, and plunged into a canal.

Reports say the Paris-Strasbourg high-speed line is scheduled to open next year.

Junior transport minister Alain Vidalies and Ecology minister Segolene Royal will visit the scene, according to French media.
